A proud Prius owner shares his commentary on what’s really accelerating out of control in a way only a Bostonian can.

I am no stranger to risk. I’ll order steak tartare, despite the printed warning about eating raw meat. Sometimes I return library books after the grace period has expired. I once played squash without goggles. Talk about living on the edge!

“Your chances of being involved in a fatal accident over the next two years because of [an] unfixed problem [in a Toyota] are a bit worse than one in a million — 2.8 in a million, to be more exact,’’ he wrote on the Times website. “Meanwhile, your chances of being killed in a car accident during the next two years just by virtue of being an American are one in 5,244.’

I like the odds. I’m sticking with the Prius.

For that I say, Go Red Sox!
